World Series Game 7 Captures 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extra-inning clash that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total 51 million viewers in the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this is the most-watched Fall Classic finale after the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a 16% improvement over the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game drew over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 PM local time, it drew 12M. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-game World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American average was over 16 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and the network’s best postseason performance after 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
